As the sun sets on summer and we move into the crisp, refreshing days of early autumn, East Sussex comes alive with creativity and culture during the Coastal Currents Arts Festival. This annual celebration, spanning the 1066 region, is a vibrant showcase of local talent, bringing together artists, makers, and performers to share their work with the community.
We at Blackbird Jewellery are excited to announce our participation in this year's Coastal Currents! As our Fairlight  Studio is being renovated,  we'll be setting up shop at The Beach Hut, 95 West of Haven, Cinque Port Way, West Hastings, and we can't wait to share our handcrafted jewellery with you.

Celebrating Local Art and Handmade Creations

Coastal Currents is more than just an arts festival; it's a celebration of the incredible creativity that thrives in our community. With Open Studios scattered across the region, it's a chance to peek behind the scenes and see where the magic happens. This festival supports local artists and small businesses, emphasising the importance of shopping local and supporting the makers in your community.

At Blackbird Jewellery, we are pleased to be part of this local movement. As a small business with roots in both Fairlight and Battersea, many of  our designs are deeply inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds us. Our Sea and Shore Collection, for instance, is a love letter to the coastline, inspired by the beach at Pett Level which is a favourIte, special  childhood place.

The Pett Pebble collection reflects the shoreline's textures, colours, and tranquillity, with the gentle, weathered curve of foraged pebbles transformed into tactile, wearable keepsakes.

We’ll also be showing our beautiful wildflower jewellery and a new bird collection in association with the RSPB.

Why Coastal Currents is Special to Us

The Coastal Currents Arts Festival is close to our hearts because it encapsulates everything we love: the strong sense of community, the deep appreciation for the arts, and the joy of celebrating local culture. It's an opportunity to connect with other makers, meet new customers, and share the stories behind our creations.

Being a small business in a vibrant arts community like Hastings means that every piece we craft is infused with passion, care, and a sense of place. We know that when you purchase from Blackbird Jewellery, you're not just buying a piece of jewellery – you're supporting a local business.

Join Us in September!

We invite you to visit us at The Beach Hut during Coastal Currents to explore our Sea and Shore Collection and other beautiful pieces. Whether you're a longtime fan of Blackbird Jewellery or a new face, we look forward to welcoming you and sharing our work with you.

So, mark your calendars f and let's celebrate the arts together. By supporting local events like Coastal Currents and businesses like ours, you play a vital role in keeping our community thriving. We look forward to seeing you there!
